Is Christianity the Problem?

by Ellie Thermansen

Looking for something to do tonight? Head uptown to to the New York Society for Ethical Culture at Columbus Circle to catch Dinesh D’Souza and Christopher Hitchens duking it out. Free and open to the public. We’ll be there too.

The debate, "Is Christianity the Problem?", pits D’Souza, author of What’s So Great About Christianity? against God is not Great author and avowed atheist Christopher Hitchens. We’ve covered both D’Souza and Hitchens in our pages in recent months; Scott Johnson’s review of D’Souza’s The Enemy at Home appeared in our March 2007 issue, and Stefan Beck reviewed God is not Great in June 2007.

Here is the press release from the host, King’s College:

The King’s College Hosts Debate between Dinesh D’Souza and Christopher Hitchens

New York—On Monday, October 22, The King’s College will sponsor a debate between cultural critics Dinesh D’Souza and Christopher Hitchens at the New York Society for Ethical Culture, 64th Street and Central Park West at 7:30 PM. The debate will address the question, “Is Christianity the problem?”
