Jodi Kantor red alert

by Stefan Beck

Remember the Jodi Kantor watch? Last July James introduced us to the Times’s then-new Arts and Leisure editor:

In one of his final acts, pre-Blairgate, Howell hired a young turk named Jodi Kantor, Columbia college class of 1996, then associate editor of Slate, to fill Rockwell’s shoes. And what has been Kantor’s answer to high culture: the brit-angst-pop band Radiohead, which appeared on the A&L cover soon after her arrival.
We’ve studiously avoided her for some time now; but the presence of this item in today’s Arts section demands Ms. Kantor be held up for scorn. What is a Times reader to make of this approving look at a delirious non-music, music without "anything in particular to say," music fueled by codeine-infused cough syrup? Who is this article for? Did Ms. Kantor imbibe some NyQuil and fall asleep at her post?

We don’t get it, either. So why not just put it out of your mind and pay Terry a visit?
