New Criterion readers close to Portland, Maine are encouraged to attend an upcoming event at the Portmand Museum of Art, “An Evening with Lois Dodd: Lois Dodd in Conversation with Karen Wilkin.”
Educated at Cooper Union and the only female founder of the Tanager Gallery, Dodd was a key member of New York’s postwar art scene. Wilkin writes a monthly art column for TNC and contributes to Art in America and The Wall Street Journal. According to the Portland Mueseum’s website “The two will discuss the evolution of the art scene in New York and Maine, and the ways the two locations continue to inspire the artist.” The opening celebration of Dodd’s new exhibit will immediately follow the discussion.
The event will take place Wednesday, January 16 from 5–6 p.m. Tickets are $10. For more information and to purchase tickets, please visit the Portland Museum of Art’s website.
