I’ve been teaching a class on traditional verse technique at the Unterberg Poetry Center of the 92nd Street Y for the past several years and getting a lot positive response to it. The next session begins in late October and includes weekly discussion of student poems. If you are interested, you can register here: On Prosody: A Poetry Workshop.
Here are two more classes, taught by first-rate poets (and contributors to The New Criterion), which start in early October. So sign up soon!
Political Poetry taught by Joshua Mehigan. Poets such as Catullus and Dante, Milton and Whitman, Owen and Brooks have written great, politically engaged poems. The class will focus on what can be learned from these poets’ artistic triumphs and missteps. Six Sunday afternoons, beginning October 5th.
